Are you The One?
The purpose of the Be The One project is to provide youth with a safe space to have your voice heard on the issue of violence against women and girls and to provide leadership opportunities for youth to raise awareness of the issue within your communities. Youth will strengthen and develop skills while enhancing the Hamilton community’s capacity to respond to gender-based violence.

Do you have something to say?
Girls and young women, boys and young men all have a voice and deserve to be heard. Violence against women and girls is a community issue, not just a women’s issue, and we want to hear what all youth aged 16-24 have to say. Attend a focus group to share your thoughts and hear what other youth are thinking about gender-based violence.

Do you live in Hamilton?
Violence against women and girls is occurring in communities all across Hamilton and we want to hear how youth are experiencing this violence and what solutions you have to stop it. We are looking for youth that reflect the diversity of Hamilton to share your thoughts and ideas and be part of the solution to ending gender-based violence. All youth are invited to participate and value your culture, race, ethnicity, language, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, citizenship status, education, employment status, recovery, and healing.

How can you be The One?
Hamilton-based youth aged 16-24 are invited to participate in focus groups across the city. You are the expert in your own experience and we want to create a safe space for you to share and learn from and with each other. Education pieces on violence against women will be provided as part of the focus group where appropriate.

On to the next One...
From there it’s up to you. Youth will have the opportunity to share what you have learned with the greater Hamilton community through youth-led awareness campaigns on violence against women and girls.

The One Goal:
To reduce the acts of violence against women and girls in Hamilton communities through education and youth-focused awareness campaigns.
