What music are you listening to / art are you checking out these days?
Right now we're listening to Marnie Stern, Beach House and the new Flaming Lips record quite a bit. We also make tour-specific mix CDs for the road that take into consideration what we all had to say about the previous trip's mixes contained. It's pretty neat, we think!
Why should people, especially youth, vote?
Often times, it can be a struggle to be heard. Artists, activists and other folk with stuff to say work hard to get their voices heard. It's important to take advantage of the opportunities that already exist to voice our opinions and fight for our beliefs.

For you, is there a connection between art and democracy? What is it?
As artists whose work is collaborative, we'd have to say that we think both pursuits are hopeful. Both art and democracy seem to be about putting forward a piece of who you are and encouraging others to do the same by the very gesture.
Why do you care about your community, when it is so easy not to?
We approach the people and communities we meet with a humanistic and empathetic manner and in so doing hope to reinvest energy into our hometown (Montreal) and other places that have nurtured us. Reinvesting energy into the population through art, activism and care is a worthwhile pursuit. As a rock band, we try to extend this support to others by playing benefit shows, most recently in support of Girls Rock Camp and the Montreal youth organization Head & Hands.
What do you look for in a politician? What do you expect from your Member of Parliament?
We look for people who do the things they say and take real interest in their community and show it through action. Someone who is well informed and in touch with the people in his/her riding. And someone who is accessible to his/her community.
What causes do you actively support?
We throw our loving weight behind:
Head & Hands which is an awesome grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to youth empowerment with queer friendly sex-ed program, a young parents program, free medical, legal and counseling services and so, so much more.
Here are some issues that are especially close to our hearts: we are invested in exposing and eliminating police brutality and racial profiling, especially with regards to youth. We advocate for sex-positive expression. We support the struggle against gender-based oppression and support the transgendered communities who are looking for safe and affordable access to healthcare. Cobra + Vulture believes that a non-judgemental and risk-reduction approach to intervention, in any community, is important.
What are one or two simple actions you recommend youth take to make a difference?
Don't take democracy for granted. Inform yourself and think critically before taking action.
