Tattoos, Ipods, or Suits? Describe your perfect MP.
How would you describe your perfect MP? As a Canadian citizen you get to be the boss, elect Members of Parliament to represent you, and you get to tell them what issues matter most to you.
Members of Parliament shape Canada and the stereotype is that they're mostly a bunch of
old lawyers, and business people. Just so you get the picture, the average age of the 308 MPs in the House of Commons is
52.2 years old,
20% of them actively use Twitter, and only one of them has almost as many followers as the band ACDC. Many of them have been there a while,
15% of them were elected more than 15 years ago,
5 of them have recently announced their retirement, and only two of them are under the age of 30 (they are known as the ‘
Babies of the House’).
Now that you know a little more them, we want you to tell us: when you choose who represents you, what are you looking for? How would you describe your perfect MP?
LET'S GET STARTED
We came up with questions to help you describe what makes your ideal MP because we know that taking the time to think about what you want in an MP is the first step to making an informed vote. Each time you submit an answer to a question, you become eligible to win a
prize but
you can only answer each question once!
Questions:
1. What song is the most played on their iPod?
2. What is the key item in their fridge?
3. What mode of transportation do they use to get to work?
4. What's their favorite kind of sandwich?
5. What is their decorating style for their home?
6. What do they wear on their days off?
7. What's their favorite book?
8. What's their favorite sport?
10. What organization do they volunteer for?
11. Where did they grow up?
12. Where did they work before being elected?
13. How old are they?
14. Are they a twitter, facebook, or myspace kind of person?
We will draw three prizes, each winner will receive an prize pack courtesy of A is B musician
